These arc'teryx arc'teryx pants kept me warm and dry as I have been hinking and cross country hike all winter. The multiple pockets are convenient for easy access. Good for keys, lip balm, beanies, etc. The vent pockets are also great as it allows you to cool off efficiently.
I would recommend these arc'teryx men's waterproof pants for anyone who needs durablitity, dryness, and warmth. The only down side is the price. I have found good deals on Gear Trade, Back Country's gently used items. This will be your last pair of arc'teryx women's waterproof pants to buy.

I bought this jacket in a shop in layers of small mountain of my strategy for a trip of a week of skiing. I spent 7 days skiing in Yellowstone at temperatures ranging from 15 to 35 below zero on a base of polypropylene, a division Arc'teryx Polartec 200 mid-level and this jacket. Big discovery!
I needed light, warm and very compact for spring thru fall Arc'teryx jackets and this item fits the bill. At only 6oz and stuffing down to almost nothing it is the go anywhere ultra light down jacket, if you think this, a parka think again.
I found the arc'teryx jacket is fine at low altitudes in the summertime but not very good for colder temps even with a shell. The key word is the arc'teryx ultralight - this jacket liner works in conditions that favor an ultralight hiking kit. In more serious conditions, the insulation falls short.
Another arc'teryx shirts are awesome. At less than 8 ounces, it stuffs down to miniscule proportions for easy wear, then puffs back up like it has springs inside. Worn alone it is great for chilly nights in camp, and under a shell it makes the colder nights seem a bit toasty.
This jacket rocks of Arc'Teryx. It is warm yet it will fit in to you back pocket. This is a no frills jacket, no pockets, snaps up the front. Best suited for around town or the in mountains. In the mountains just slide it under your shell and you will be toasty.

Adding a helmet worthy hood makes this arc'teryx jacket a full featured friend for the coldest of mountain days. Also, arc'teryx windshells and arc'teryx waterproof jacket use GORE-TEX fabric.
I also bought a very warm arc'teryx men's waterproof pant and bought one arc'teryx women's waterproof pants for my wife. I paid full book but, overall it was worth it! I wear it by itself with just arc'teryx shirts on underneath and I'm toasty warm in East Coast weather. I mainly use it for a casual jacket which branded Acr'Teryx, but did wear it to shovel snow in once and was warm!!

On a recent day hike I decided to throw this jacket in my pack since the weather forecast called for temps in the 50's, wind gusts of up to 40 mph, and a good chance of some serious rain.
I bought this jacket brand new and I wish that I had waited for the sale, but I'd say it was practically worth the cost. This Arc'Teryx Celeris Jacket is 100% waterproof and thanks to the full-length chest zipper and pit-zips, it can be cool enough to wear during a summer shower.
I use it for everything from mountaineering to day hikes, to everday wear, and it works great. It is super breathable, and has big enough pockets to fit gels, power bars, gloves or hats. The pit zips are nice. Overall, I would say get this jacket rather than the heavy, more expensive Arc'Teryx Covert Cardigan Jacket out there.

As a photographer, I am often out in both pre dawn cold, but also just standing there. When I need to keep warm while not moving in really cold winter weather this arc'teryx jacket is my turn to jacket.

Pros: very warm, good fit, hood adjustable to any head-size, convenient pockets.
Cons: velcro closure over zipper has started wearing out threads on jacket front after two years of wear. Excellent jacket. Looks good and fits good. It's windshell is windproof and it's reinforced in the right spots. Plenty long to cover down to the hips and you can wear this over a shell if necessary.

As a photographer, I am often out in both pre dawn cold, but also just standing there. When I need to keep warm while not moving in really cold winter weather this arc'teryx jacket is my turn to jacket.

Pros: very warm, good fit, hood adjustable to any head-size, convenient pockets.

My Arc’Teryx Ether Crew LS Shirt
This Phoenix model of Arc'Teryx Shirts is great! Even after six hours of heavy rain I remained resonably dry (I felt just slightly more damp than my arc'teryx pants that kept me absolutely DRY). The arc'teryx jackets seems very breathable (much better than my REI pants)and packed down nicely, in my bag. Two thumbs up!

Arc'teryx Delta AR Zip

When combined with a lined soft shell (i.e. Venta SV Jacket), or GTX hard shell, my ascents of peaks in NYS’s Adirondack and Catskill Mountains are warm and comfortable, even in temperature ranges as low as -10 to 10 degrees. I’m always amazed at its insulating properties. It also packs light and even looks great with jeans. Care is simple; a warm wash followed by a low heat dry cycle gets it clean.
If you’re looking for warmth, comfort and durability in a mid-layer, the Delta AR Zip is an ideal choice. I’ve compared this layer to Mountain Hardwear’s Micro Chill Zip-T and Arc'teryx Micro TKA and found that while these garments do perform well, the Delta AR is warmer and more comfortable, primarily due to its functional design features and fabric material. Its long length keeps out the elements, and it’s soft, comfortable high-loft grid fabric traps heat and wick’s moisture very efficiently. Also, a long front zip quickly vents heat and helps regulate body temperature.
I received my first Delta AR as a gift this past Christmas, but after using it so often peak-bagging and around town, I purchased another to make sure I always have one available to keep me warm and comfortable this cold Winter season.

The two teams that make up the Catlin Arctic Survey team continue to have very busy and eventful days in the arctic. The explorers are continuing to make their way north, amidst some of the strangest and most dangerous ice conditions they've ever seen, while back in the Ice Base, a new group of scientists are hard at work.
The Explorers team is made up of polar vets Ann Daniels, Martin Hartley and Charlie Paton, and their mission to take samples of the arctic ice while making their way to the North Pole. Presently, they're at roughly 86.34ºN, and contending with, quite literally, constantly changing ice conditions. The has been so unstable in fact that one morning during breakfast the trio heard it cracking all around them outside of their tent, and they were forced to evacuate their shelter, and quickly decide which side of the crack they wanted to be on, pulling gear and sleds along with them in order to avoid catastrophic damage. Charlie Paton described the scene like this, “We heard a crack, a few bangs and then suddenly the ice started to break apart. It all happened very quickly and was unlike anything I’ve experienced before"
This wasn't the only dangerous situation they've found themselves in either. One day, while navigating through the ice flows and around open water, they actually found themselves surrounded on all sides by ice that was too thin to cross. It was a sobering reminder of how quickly things can change in the arctic. Check out this amazing video that the team captured that demonstrates just what kind of conditions they are dealing with on their long, cold journey to the top of the world.
It hasn't been all bad for the explorers though, as they received their first resupply this week, providing them with some much need fresh food and gear. The team remains confident and upbeat that they'll arrive at the Pole on schedule.
Meanwhile, back at the Ice Base the scientists continue their work, which included a little home improvement, including an update and improvement to the loo. Of course, they're continuing their valuable research on the effects of CO2 in the atmosphere on the Arctic Ocean, with Laura Edwards, of Bangor University, who has been at the base since Day 1, providing an update on the process. The research team has been happy to find a wide variety of life thriving in the water, including plankton, tiny crustaceans called copepods, and lentil-sized sea snails called pteropods.

Brownie is a part-Husky, part- German Shepherd mix who is always on watch for the big, hungry white bears that are common in the area. Brownie also earns her keep by pulling a sled for the scientists as they go about their daily chores, and in turn, they've become quite fond of the four legged member of the team.

adventure in Nepal
While in Nepal, I'm going to be making the trek to Everest Base Camp, a place that I've always wanted to visit. Considering the topics that I write about around here, you can probably understand why. I'm going to be taking some excellent gear along with me to test out on the trek, so long for a host of reviews on a wide variety of things when I get back. I'd like to thank Outdoor Research, GoLite, Arc'Teryx, Mountain Hardwear, The North Face, Sierra Designs, Osprey Packs, Origo, and everyone else for helping outfit the trip. I'm looking forward to sharing my thoughts on the gear when I get back.
In the meantime, there is going to be a lot to keep track of in the adventure world. Ripley left for Mongolia today, Roz is preparing for the third leg of her Pacific Row, and of course, those arctic explorers are still making their way to 90ºN. While I'm away, the Himalayan season will really ramp up, so when I get back, there will be plenty to update everyone on, both in what's happening around the globe, and what I saw while in the Khumbu. I'm looking forward to the break, and visiting a new place, and I'll be looking forward to getting back home and sharing it all with you too.

Bangkok was unreal in terms of food, every corner has dozens of vendors all offering something totally different. Our instant favorite food, good for a snack or a meal, was the pad thai. Pad thai has lots of variations but most are noodle, green onion, sprouts, chicken, cabagge, carrot, soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, chili’s to taste, then topped with peanuts and a side of lime. Best of all it is made in seconds right in front of you. Most pad thai dishes we got in bangkok cost between 30-65 cents usd! On of our favorites of the trip.

As the country’s wealth continues to grow, almost half the population have a hand-held device but less than a third have access to proper sanitation.
The lack of flushing toilets has led to continuing problems of water-borne illness and millions of deaths, according to UN experts who published a nine-point prescription for achieving the world’s Millennium Development Goal for sanitation by 2015.
Their report on India, the world’s second most populous country, shows 600 million people – 54 per cent of the population – defecated in the open in 2008, causing a health disaster.
At the same time, 545 million mobile phones are now connected to networks in the developing nation.
The Indian government has vowed to end open defecation by 2012.
Zafar Adeel, director of UN think-tank the Institute for Water, Environment and Health, called for ‘popular education about the dangers of poor sanitation’.
‘This simple measure could do more to save lives, improve health and help pull India and other countries in similar circumstances out of poverty than any alternative investment,’ he added.

It came exactly as listed on the Warm Front website. I hate to say it, but after reading and trying on, it reminds me of an oversized baby bib and looks stupid to me. However, in terms of functionality goes, the appearances can be deceiving, and it will probably be used when wearing clothing that bike look goofy to me (and me), anyway. Regarding the details, the website says: "It is from France at the best technical fleece that blocks wind yet breathes and transfers perspiration from the body, so you're not cold and wet with sweat." I say so, the name of the hot line is a lot to say when describing thewarmfront doing. Warm Front ™ is designed for cycling and / or other sports where the carrier will face the cold wind from the front. I ride a recumbent (Bachetta Cafe), most of the time and occasionally road bike.
